The Chicagoland Baptist Institute exists for the purpose of training the lay leadership of the local church. Every local church has a core of dedicated workers, serving as deacons, Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, bus workers, etc. We want to strengthen the doctrine and practice of this core group of people, establishing them firmly in “the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.”
Our faculty consists of Chicago area pastors with a wide range of experience. Our class size is small allowing for personal interaction with the teacher. Our structure is almost collegiate and yet flexible. Our mindset is independent, fundamental Baptist. Our desire is to advance the Kingdom of Christ, glorify God, and edify the local church.

Pastor Charlie Ravago pastor of Berean Bible Baptist Church |
Pastor Charlie Ravago is the pastor of the Berean Bible Baptist Church in Chicago. He was saved in the Philippines as a young man and served 20 years with the United States Navy. While in the Navy he became very active in independent Baptist church in the Waukegan area, heading up the sailor ministry, being a deacon, conducting home Bible studies, etc. Out of a desire to serve the Lord more, he resigned from the Navy, and his success in the sailor ministry led him to believe the Lord could use him to reach people and preach the Scriptures in spite of the lack of a formal Bible college education.
In July of 2001 his home church birthed a start up church out of a home Bible study in the Skokie area, and he became the pastor. Steady growth through the years, mostly due to home Bible studies, necessitated the purchase of some property. In March of 2006 he led Berean in the acquisition of a church building in Chicago, moving his congregation a number of miles without losing anybody. His goals include remodeling of the current property, and at some point becoming a full time pastor.
